Alberta MP Michael Cooper defends conservative values to Justice Committee, Muslim has hurt feelings

For a brief moment, we focus on someone other than the nominated candidate for the Conservatives in Parkdale-High Park, Adam Pham.

Michael Cooper,  an Alberta MP was removed from the Justice Committee this week for telling the truth, the faux-pas of calling out a Muslim.  A guest of the committee, this Muslim witness of the Liberals painted an ongoing narrative that some how Muslims are the true victims of western society.  Cooper told the committee that the Christchurch, NZ shooter from Australia was not a conservative and named the shooter and read his manifesto, one that glorifies communism.  The committee erupted into chaos, and work was halted having gone in camera to deal with the situation.

This makes Scheer look like a weak political leader, and saves face for political Islam by agreeing to remove Cooper from the committee.

The statement from Cooper appeared on Facebook earlier today, an obvious about face at the insistence of weak Conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

Earlier this week at the Justice committee, I interpreted comments by witness Faisal Khan Suri as linking mainstream conservatism with violent extremism.

In response, I quoted the words of a white supremacist anti-Muslim mass murderer in an ill-advised attempt to demonstrate that such acts are not linked to conservatism.

I absolutely should have not quoted these words nor named the perpetrator. This was a mistake. I apologize to Mr. Suri and to all Canadians. I reiterate that I unequivocally condemn all forms of racism.

I have spoken to my leader Andrew Scheer and we have agreed that I will no longer sit on the Justice committee.
